Michael Alexander Campus Center West, Chaffey College, Rancho Cucamonga Campus – Rancho Cucamonga, CA
This facility replaces the aging Campus Center West building at the heart of the Rancho Cucamonga Campus. In a two-story format the building contains, on the ground floor, the student cafeteria and kitchen, student commons and coffee bar, student hangout room, and faculty dining room. The second floor houses EOPS, a Career Center, Health Center, the student newspaper and a multi-purpose meeting room. The building is the first step in the revisioning of the campus from the inside out by replacing what is currently a hodge-podge of structures built in the 1960’s with a more coherent and dignified assembly of buildings that will, through the creation of clearly defined and gracious open spaces, reconstitute a campus core with identity and presence. This project is scheduled to begin construction in June 2010.
