The city of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA is moving forward in its plan to build a new community center and park on a 7 acre site currently housing its existing community center. (The site in question was formerly used for an elementary school before the current community center was built in its place.)

Within the 7 acre site, 3.5 acres will be developed for the new park, while the remaining area will be restored to “natural” conditions. The new park will include 1 ½ basketball courts, two paddle tennis courts, a children’s playground, garden, lawn area, and a 28 space parking lot. The community center will be a single story 9,000 GSF building including a lobby, 1800 SF multi-purpose meeting room divisible into two, warming kitchen, two storage rooms, staff offices, work room, two classrooms at 800 SF each, and a 1,000 SF “Discovery Room” with exhibition and archive display space.
