This project is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District’s “Green Schoolyards for All” plan to transform 30% of existing hard-surfaced schoolyard spaces into sustainable green spaces by 2035. At the Erwin Elementary School campus 151,000 SF (3.5 acres) of paving will be replaced with green space, landscaping and solar reflective coating at the playgrounds. The project intends to enhance the overall learning environment of the campus through the creation of resource rich outdoor learning opportunities that are engaging and joyful. These include gardening and coordinated games and activities that engage the mind, body and heart. This project is a collaboration with Stoss Landscape Architects and currently in the design development phase.
